Alameda County Community Food Bank Works to Address Hunger

A resident of Alameda County, California, Rose Padilla Johnson is the chief executive officer of Davis Street Community Center. Since 1991, Rose Padilla Johnson has overseen the development of the nonprofit organization into a comprehensive center that annually serves around 15,000 individuals in need around San Leandro.

One of the hallmarks of the Davis Street Community Center is its food distribution program, with the Alameda County Community Food Bank serving as one of the center’s sources of food.

For more than 30 years, the Alameda County Community Food Bank has acted on its belief that food is a basic right for everyone. In order to distribute millions of pounds of food per year, the organization partners with senior centers, hot-meal programs, and other nonprofit agencies to serve healthy meals to those in need. Davis Street food pantry connects people in need with a myriad of services including, childcare, healthcare and basic needs.
