A former president of the San Leandro Chamber of Commerce, Rose Padilla Johnson is a nonprofit leader honored by the SF Business Times as one of its “Women of Distinction.” A resident of San Leandro, California, Rose Padilla Johnson is the CEO of Davis Street Community Center.
Davis Street aims to improve the lives of people living on low incomes in the Eden area. It provides support through programs such as its free clothing program. Through the program, Davis Street donates fairly new clothing and household items like lamps, dishes, small appliances, and towels to people in need. The items are all collected from the organization’s donors.
Families that need these items can visit the organization’s offices at 3081 Teagarden Street, San Leandro, California 94577 on Thursdays and Fridays, between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm. They will have to be enrolled in Davis Street’s Basic Needs Program, though. Individuals will need to pass certain eligibility requirements, including living in the Eden area and earning low incomes. After enrollment, they can stop by whenever the organization gives away clothing, fills out a form, and receives supplies. Because supplies are limited, there are limits to how much each family member can get.
